Charles H. Bradford (b.1882)

Winchester, NH

During the 1920s, Charles H. Bradford worked as a laborer in a saw mill while residing on Scotland Road in Winchester, NH.  Born in Manchester, NJ, on March 28, 1882, Bradford relocated to Burlington, VT sometime in the 1910s.  In Vermont, he worked as a laborer at the Crystal Confectionary, a candy factory.  

By 1917, Bradford had married and was caring for an adopted child.  His World War I registration card provides a description of him.  Bradford was Black with medium height, medium build, black eyes, and black hair.  

It is unclear what happened to his family in the coming years.  By 1920, Charles was living alone in Winchester, NH.  The 1920 census reveals that although he was born in New Jersey ,his parents were originally from South Carolina.  Where Charles Bradford lived, following his time in southwest New Hampshire is unclear.
