Russell, Henry
Henry Russell (1893-1916)
Alstead, NH
Henry Russell lived in the Monadnock region for a very short time before his death. Born April 28, 1892 in Nutbush, North Carolina, Russell moved to Alstead, NH, sometime in early 1916. Henry was named for his grandfather and grew up living in Henry Russell, Sr. 's household along with his parents John and Ida and his siblings Albert, Calva, and Junus.
At the time he resided in the Monadnock Region, Russell was 24 years old and had been married for two and a half years. There’s no evidence that Russell’s wife Ida (Russell) Russell moved to New Hampshire with him.
Census records from the 1910s indicate that Russell worked as a general laborer while in North Carolina; it is possible that he moved to Alstead to work as a laborer. On June 4, 1916, he suffered a hemorrhaging ulcer of the stomach and died, having only lived in the region for two months. He was buried in North Carolina, closer to his parents John H. and Ida N. (Reed) Russell.
