In the 1810 US Federal Census, head of household Samuel Bakeman and the six members of his immediate family appear as residents of Chesterfield, NH. The family had moved into the region from Hampden County, MA. Their extended family resided in the towns of Amherst, Belchertown, and Northampton.
Further research indicates that by the time the Bakemans show up in the 1810 census, the family included: Samuel Bakeman II, his wife Hannah, Samuel III (b.1800), a daughter (b.1802), Richard (b.1806) and Edward (b.1810). The Bakeman family did not stay long in New Hampshire. They moved back to Hampden County, MA sometime in the 1810s.
